Monie Yow White

FLORENCE Monie Yow Nana White, 97, died Monday, July 8, 2013, after an illness.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Southside Baptist Church, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the church, and other times at the home of Johnny and Carolyn White, 4800 Willow Creek Drive, Florence, SC.

Mrs. White was born in Troy, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Hadley and Nettie Atkins Yow. She was retired from Florence Manufacturing Company, and was a founding member of Southside Baptist Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, James White; brothers, Edward, Ervin, Elvin, and Shelton Yow; and a sister, Nolene Yow Ross.

Survivors include her three children, Johnny (Carolyn) White, Mary (Odette) Hatchell, and Ann W. Stokes, all of Florence; six grandchildren, Jay White of Columbia, Craig (Dawn) White, Rusty Stokes, Brad Stokes, Kevin (Amy) Hatchell, and Lisa (Trey) Woodberry, all of Florence; great-grandchildren, Allison, Courtney and Emilee Stokes, Claudia White, Carter and Caroline Woodberry, Haley and Luke Stokes, Manning, Myers, and McCann Hatchell; great-great-granddaughter, Ava Grace Tadpole Lewellen; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Yow, of Macon, GA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church Building Fund, 1356 Pineland Dr., Florence, SC 29505.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Margaret Hoffmeyer, the staff of the Heritage Home and McLeod Hospice for their compassionate care of Mrs. White.
