Morris Prosser Obituary

FLORENCE Morris Lonewood Buddy Prosser, Sr., 75, died Monday, June 16, 2014, at Duke University Medical Center after an illness.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 20, 2014, at Central United Methodist Church. Committal service with Masonic Rites will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home (www.waterspowellfh.com).

Mr. Prosser was born in Hannah, SC, a son of the late Jabo Calvin and Devon Munn Prosser. He attended the University of South Carolina and served in the United States Navy. He was retired from DuPont, where he was a maintenance supervisor. He was also a general contractor and owner of Bannockburn Construction Company.

Mr. Prosser was active in the community and in his church, Central United Methodist Church. He was affiliated with CHOICES Charter School. He was a Shriner and a Mason, member of Flintville Lodge #158, where he held many positions and served faithfully.

He was predeceased by a son, Morris Lonewood Woody Prosser, Jr.; and a brother, Ted Charles Prosser.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Munn Prosser, of the home; a daughter, Alice Prosser Johnson of Florence; a sister, Dianne P. (Dr. S. Edward) Parker, and brother, Ferrell J. (Nancy) Prosser, both of Florence; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Parrott Prosser of Irmo; and three grandchildren, Walter Raleigh Johnson, Jr., Tillman Blake Johnson, and Sullivan Elizabeth Johnson, all of Florence.
