FLORENCE Opal Skipper Dawkins, 89, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2013, at McLeod Hospice House after an illness.
She was born September 11, 1923, in Conway, SC, to Roosevelt and Nellie J. Skipper. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her dearly beloved husband, Bill Dawkins. They were married over 60 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra D. Carter and her husband, Joe Carter, of Florence; a son, Johnny Dawkins and his wife, Maree Dawkins, of New Port Richey, FL; a sister, Hilda S. Anderson of Conway, SC; three grandchildren, Charles W. Carter and his wife, Shannon Carter, of Lamar, SC, Kelly D. Baker and her husband, Kris Baker, of Spring Hill, FL, and Amanda D. Rump and her husband, Jordan Rump, of Trinity, FL; four great-granddaughters, Bramley and Anna Carter of Lamar, SC, Kamryn and Kinsey Baker of Spring Hill, FL.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2013, in Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
