Patricia Brunson Munn

          FLORENCE - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia B. Munn, beloved mother, Meme, Great-Meme, sister, and friend, who left us peacefully on January 27, 2025, at the age of 82.

          Born in Charleston, South Carolina, on May 20, 1942, Patricia was the daughter of Clara Elizabeth Morris Brunson and Ellis Manning Brunson.  She was a proud graduate of McClenaghan High School in Florence, SC and furthered her education at Francis Marion College, where she earned both her undergraduate and master’s degrees.  Patricia’s professional life was marked by her dedicated service to the South Carolina Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services, where she spent many years helping others before retiring.

          Patricia’s love for family, faith, and nature defined her life.  She was a devoted mother to her three children, Marion “Mickey” Munn (Faye), Meloney Munn, and Ellis Manning Munn, and a loving grandmother and great-grandmother.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Austen Oakes, Cody Prosser, Bryce Munn (Cheyanne), and great-grandchildren, Brody Oakes, Chloe Oakes, and Banks Munn.

          She is also survived by her sisters, Jacque Brunson Flowers and Joye Fields, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will remember her warmth and generosity.  Patricia was predeceased by her husband, Marion LaQue Munn, her sister, Ida Brunson McLeod, her brother, Leonard Alston, and her grandson, Joshua Munn.

          Known for her deep faith, Patricia spent much of her time reading her Bible and finding solace in her spirituality.  She also took great pride in caring for her yard, which became a peaceful retreat and a reflection of her nurturing spirit.  Her strength, kindness, and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

          Patricia’s legacy will live on through her family, her faith, and the countless lives she touched during her years of service and love.

          A memorial service to honor Patricia’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Florence Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Florence Chapter, 181 E. Evans St., #200, Florence, SC 29506.
