Patricia "Patsy" Bryant Hoffmeyer, 87, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Affectionately called “Googoo” by all who knew and loved her, Mrs. Hoffmeyer was beloved for her spirit and deep love for her friends and family.
A memorial service for Mrs. Hoffmeyer will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Central United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Mrs. Hoffmeyer was born on November 17, 1938, in Darlington to the late Alton Lee Bryant and Mildred Folsom Bryant Davis. She graduated from St. John's High School and went on to study education at Winthrop College. She was an elementary school teacher until her first son was born, at which point she transitioned into devoting her time to raising her three boys. A civil servant, she also volunteered her service on several boards and local committees, including Florence Junior League.
A devout Christian, Mrs. Hoffmeyer was an active member of Central United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Sarah Blanton Sunday School class, a member of United Methodist Women, a church circle member, and a supporter of the Wednesday noon Healing and Communion services.
In her recent years, Mrs. Hoffmeyer was a passionate supporter of her children and grandchildren in all of their endeavors, known for cheering loudly and praying at sporting events and for staying connected with every member of her circle through phone calls and visits. She was an avid reader, having held multiple leadership positions in the Allegro Literary Club, and particularly enjoyed works by Southern authors. A deeply social person and a loyal friend, she found any opportunity to gather with people she cared about. Known also for her sense of humor, she showed her wit through her roles in the Special Friends Birthday Club and her support of The Wine Board.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad Hoffmeyer; and a brother, Kenneth Bryant. She is survived in life by her three sons, Dr. Hunter Stokes, Jr., Dr. Mark Stokes (Sissy Smith), and Bryant Stokes (Laura Stephenson); three daughters, Sherrie Williams (Robert), Melinda Morris (Paul), and Melissa Bertolino (Vincent); fourteen grandchildren, Laura Peace Stokes, Helen Stokes Harrell (Cole), Jennifer Stokes Johnston (Casey), Chandler Parker Stokes (Callie), Caroline Hunter Stokes (Zach Heaton), Lauren Elizabeth Stokes, Gracie Smith, Nikki Green (Ben), Dylan Williams, Elena Bertolino, Dr. Melanie Zilinskas (Dr. Kasparas), Vincent Bertolino, Jr., Peyton Bacile, and Sam Morris; two brothers, Tommy Bryant of Florence and Altee Bryant of Pawley's Island; a sister, Betty Faulk of Augusta, Georgia; six great-grandchildren; and cherished friends, Ann Thomas and Elizabeth Stokes.
Mrs. Hoffmeyer impacted everyone for the better. She will be dearly missed.
