Peggy Lee Taylor, 92, died Saturday, May 10, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House after an illness.
Peggy was born in New Bern, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Edith Carpenter Lee and Jack Lee. She graduated from New Bern High School in 1951and Bowman Gray School of Nursing in Winston-Salem, NC, in 1953. While attending Bowman Gray, she met the love of her life, the late Edward Warren “Casey” Taylor, Jr. She worked as a registered nurse until she and Dr. Taylor moved to Florence, where they started their family and Dr. Taylor’s medical practice.
She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Florence. She will be lovingly remembered by her family for her joy in spending time in her yard.
In addition to her husband of 67 years, she was predeceased by a sister, Jean Lee.
Surviving are her two sons, Edward Warren Taylor, III, of Florence, and John Howard Taylor of Summerton, SC; two grandchildren, Zachary Warren Taylor (Nicole) of Greenville, SC, and Ashley Elizabeth Taylor Huschilt (John) of Roanoke, VA; two great-grandchildren, Eliza and Allie Huschilt; a brother, Jack Howard Lee (Virginia) of New Bern, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., June 1, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
