FLORENCE – Mrs. Rebecca Irene Mills Eanes, 92, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, in Florence, SC.
Born on July 23, 1932, in Burlington, North Carolina, Rebecca lived a life rooted in faith, family, and music. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Carter Eanes, and together they built a legacy of love that continues through their children and grandchildren.
Rebecca was a cherished mother of Melissa Ethridge and her husband Butch Ethridge, and Alethea Rastello. Her role as a grandmother brought her immense joy; she was lovingly known to her grandchildren, Matt Ethridge (wife Britnie), Krista McDiarmid (husband Sterling), and Katie Stiles (husband Bryan). Her great-grandchildren, Lauchlin, Annie, John Duncan and Effie McDiarmid; Carter Massey; Corbin Stiles; and Miles Ethridge, were a source of pride and delight throughout her later years.
A woman of deep spiritual conviction, Rebecca was a faithful member of Twin Oaks Pentecostal Holiness Church (now Urgent Church). Her close relationship with God was evident not only in her daily life, but also in the gift of music she so generously shared with others. She played the organ for church services and sang in a trio that uplifted the congregation with heartfelt harmonies. Her musical talents were more than just skills – they were expressions of devotion that touched all who heard them.
Rebecca’s life was defined by love – for her family, for her faith community, and for the Lord. She embraced each role she held – wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother – with grace and unwavering dedication. Her presence brought warmth to every room she entered and comfort to those around her.
A funeral service honoring Rebecca’s life with be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in the Chapel at Alamance Memorial Park in Burlington, North Carolina, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home of Florence.
