Retha Snipes Rogers

FLORENCE - Retha Snipes Rogers, 87, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013, in McLeod Hospice House after an illness.

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Sunday, July 7, 2013, in Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery in Pee Dee, SC, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.

She was born in Lumberton, NC, a daughter of the late Walter Perry and Ola Davis Snipes. She was educated in the Marion County schools and retired from Woolworth's as an assistant manager. Mrs. Rogers was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Florence.

She was predeceased by her husband, Aiken Robert Rogers; a daughter, Kay Rogers; a son, Charles Rogers; three sisters, Aline Snipes Joye, Beulah Snipes Gore, and Clara Snipes Sutton; four brothers, Edward Snipes, O. L. Snipes, David Snipes, and Wesley Snipes; and a granddaughter, Wendy Kay Rogers.

Survivors include her daughter, Brenda (Gene) Harris of Florence; a son, Larry (Ruth Ann) Rogers of Florence; a sister, Julia Catherine Snipes Cole of Laurinburg, NC; six grandchildren, 14 great-grand-children, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
