Rev. Virgil Seaber Obituary

          Rev. Virgil Milton Seaber, Jr., retired pastor, went to meet his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at his residence in Florence, SC.

          Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 10, 2024, in the chapel of Waters-Powell Funeral Home in Florence, with a visitation being held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Graveside service will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Florence.

          Born on August 18, 1935, in Lonaconing, MD, Virgil was the loving son of the late Virgil M. Seaber, Sr., and Mildred Jane Seaber.  Virgil was a graduate of Holmes Theological Academy in 1953. He continued his education with studies in Educational Leadership at Jersey City University, NJ; Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, MO; and at Emmanuel University of Boston, MA.  Virgil was an ordained Pentecostal Holiness minister and while living in Missouri, attended seminary and began pastoring in the United Methodist Church Conference.  His lifelong calling was to minister to others and lead them to Christ.  He used his gifts sharing the Gospel through evangelism and singing.

          Surviving Virgil are his wife, Ann Seaber of Florence; daughters, Cynthia Seaber Price (Dale) of Florence and Judy Seaber King of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Darlene Seaber Stefan and Rita Seaber Kelly, both of Essex, MD; daughter-in-law, Ruth Seaber of Farmington, MO; son-in-law, Matt King, Jr., of Charleston, SC; step-daughter, Laura Taylor Stephens (Ricky) of Florence.  Grandchildren: John Seaber (Emily) of Glen Carbon, IL; Madison Seaber Fleming of Farmington, MO; Tyler Price of Florence; Sylvia Price (Dalton Grant), also of Florence; Dr. Christian King (Dr. Jasmine Lau) of Beaufort, SC; Riley King (Blaine) of Savannah, GA; and Charlotte Stephens, Tara Stephens, and Whit Stephens, all of Florence; Great-grandchildren: Lucy, Tommy, and Archie Seaber, Everett and Millie Fleming, Caiden Grant, Anna Leah Gowdy, and Jackson Ford.

          He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sylvia Hewitt Seaber; son, Virgil M. Seaber, III; and Ann’s daughter, Beth Taylor.

          The family expresses special  thanks to all our family, friends, and Gentiva Hospice for their compassion and support during Virgil’s illness.

          Memorials may be made to Central Methodist Church in Brittons Neck, SC, or to Gentiva Hospice.
