FLORENCE – Richard Lee Thompson, 65, died Friday, July 11, 2025, after a brief illness.
Ricky was born in Newport, Rhode Island, a son of the late Otto Robert Thompson, Jr., and Helen Jeanette Cannon Sexton. He moved to Florence with his family as a young child. He was a manager with Blanchard Machinery for many years. His most recent employment was with MUSC – Florence, as a security guard.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his step-father, Ralph Sexton; and two uncles, Charles Cannon and Jimmy Cannon.
Survivors include a brother, Robert G. "Robbie" Thompson, Sr., of Florence; two sisters, Helen Hughes (Sidney) of Lumberton, NC, and Marcia Thompson, of Florence; his step-mother, Daisy Thompson, of Florence; an aunt, Debbie Thomas Gulledge (Jerry) of Effingham; nieces and nephews, Mollye Watford (Terry) and Robert G. "Robbin" Thompson, Jr. (Amber), both of Florence, and Chris Thompson (Kimberly) and Nikki Ivey (Travis), both of Lumberton, NC; and a number of great-nieces and -nephews and extended family members.
