Robert Gunn Obituary

Robert "Bob" William Gunn, 73, of Florence, South Carolina, passed away on March 4, 2024. He was born on November 19, 1950, in Lebanon, New Hampshire, and was the son of Robert and Frances Gunn.

Bob served in the Navy from 1970 to 1974, and enjoyed seeing far-flung places during his service on the USS Fulton. During his time in the Navy, he developed an interest in computers and technology, which led to his work at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, and MicroAge Creative Computer Systems in Florence, South Carolina. He found his true calling, however, in 1996, when he began a career at Trinity Collegiate School, where he worked as a teacher, coach, and Director of Technology and Facilities. Bob was known for being hard-working, kind, and humorous and was a valued colleague and mentor.  His positive impact on the lives of hundreds of students will always be remembered and appreciated.

He is survived by his children: Jason Gunn (Stephanie), Jeff Gunn (Jill), Frances Harvel (Brian), and Catherine Zimmerman (Matt). Bob is also survived by his brother, Stephen Gunn (Mary Anne), and sisters: Mary Gunn (Susan Berliner), Ellen Gunn, and Patricia DeCarli (Mario). He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Gunn; mother, Frances Gunn; and brothers, James Gunn and John Gunn.

A ceremony to honor Bob's life will be held on June 22, 2024, at Trinity Collegiate School, 5001 Hoffmeyer Road, Darlington, SC 29532. Time and other details will be shared on Facebook and via email closer to the date of the ceremony.
