Robert C. Holland, Jr.

                FLORENCE – Robert Charles Holland, Jr., 81, died peacefully at his home on May 20, 2025, surrounded by family.

                A lifelong resident of Florence, he was the son of the late Robert C. Holland and Joyce Thomas Holland.  He was a graduate of Francis Marion College and also earned his Masters of Business Administration.  Bobby served as the Director of Public Works for the City of Florence for more than 20 years, during which time he was a member of the American Public Works Association.  He also served as acting City Administrator.  He spent another 20 years with SCANA Corporation as the Economic Development Director. In his later years, Bobby enjoyed spending his time between Florence and Belle Isle.

                A dedicated community man, he represented Florence as a City Councilman for 14 years.  He was also involved with Ducks Unlimited, where he was a life sponsor and State Chairman.

                Bobby was a proud veteran of the United States Navy.  After basic training in San Diego he was stationed at Pearl Harbor and Sasebo, Japan.  Per his wishes, his remains will be scattered at sea from a United States Navy vessel at a later date.

                He is survived by his loving wife, Anne Hunter Holland, of the home; his devoted son and daughter-in-law, Robert C. Holland, III, and Dawn Matthews Holland; two grandsons, Austin Hunter Holland (fiancé, Braidyn Armstrong) of Darlington, and Eric Martin Foerster (Isis) of Wilmington, NC, and their two sons, Walter and Henry.
