FLORENCE - Robert E. Shorty Moore, 82, died Thursday, October 10, 2013, after an illness.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2013, in Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Howard Allen, Rev. Jeffrey Allen, and Rev. Charles Tranthan. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
Born April 21, 1931, in Lily, Kentucky, he was the son of Charley and Delia Moore. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. He retired from Vulcraft after 36 years of service.
Mr. Moore was a member of South Florence Baptist Church and the Mens Sunday School Class, who will serve as honorary pallbearers.
He was a member and Past Master of the Hampton Masonic Lodge #204, and served as Past Patron of Lenora Chapter 30 of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was also a Knight Mason.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Nobles Moore; two daughters, Delilah M. Isgett of Florence, SC, and Tami M. (Ronnie) McAteer of Lancaster of Lancaster, SC; a son, Charles Chuck (Kathy) Moore of Fuquay Varina, NC; three granddaughters, DeAnna Isgett of Florence, April Hayes (Freddie) Allen and Heather McAteer, both of Lancaster, SC; three great-granddaughters, Harlie Allen and Karlie Allen, both of Lancaster, and Jessica Napier of Florence; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express special thanks to special friend and Sunday school teacher, J.E. Cox, caregivers Tammie, Myra and Arthur, and all staff on the Cedar Wing at Heritage Home of Florence; and to all of his special nieces and nephews.
