Robert Stone O'Harra

          Robert “Bob” Stone O’Harra, 75, died suddenly on April 18, 2026.  He was born in Florence on August 4, 1950, and was the son of the late Robert Lee O’Harra and Catherine Stone O’Harra.

          Bob excelled in football and track and was recruited by dozens of universities around the country.  He accepted a football scholarship from the University of South Carolina in 1968, where he made lifelong friends and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity.  He graduated in 1972 with a degree in Finance.

          Bob had a 47-year career in the real estate services business, having retired as Regional Vice-President of Ventas.  He also built a successful mortgage banking business in Florence that was later acquired.

          Bob enjoyed sporting clays, hunting and cycling with his close friends. In his younger days he was an avid surfer and shared his love for the water with his two sons, both of whom remain passionate about surfing to this day.

          Bob is survived by his wife, Marie; his sons, Robert Daniel O'Harra (Rachel) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and David Christopher O'Harra (Amy) of Dallas, TX; and his sisters, Graclyn Elmendorf (Peter) and Katy Miller (Paul). He also leaves behind five grandchildren: Reese, Lane, Shep, Hampton, and Sloan; and a number of nieces and nephews.

          A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Mount Hope Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Jim Shorter.  The family will receive friends at their home after the service.
