Robert Streuber Obituary

Robert David Streuber, 64, died Monday, April 6, 2026, after a sudden illness.

A service honoring the life of Robert will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2026, in the chapel of Waters-Powell Funeral Home.  The family will greet friends following the service.

Robert was born in Charleston, South Carolina, a son of Virginia Palmieri Streuber and the late William Anthony Streuber.  He was an elevator mechanic for 30 years, retiring from Thyssenkrupp Elevators and a member of International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local 135 (IUEC).  Most of Robert’s life was spent in the Charleston/North Charleston/Hanahan area, but recently he and his wife, Inez, were relocating to their second home in Effingham, SC.  Robert was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church in North Charleston.

Robert’s love for NASCAR continued with his childhood dream of racing super trucks in NASCAR and URA tracks at Florence Motor Speedway and Dillon Motor Speedway.  He will be remembered as “an old man living his dreams.”

He loved grilling, cooking and “front porch sitting” at his Happy Place.  He treasured the many friendships he has in his life, but most of all he LOVED his family.

In addition to his mother of Bonneau Beach, SC, he is survived by his wife of 23 years, Inez Buck Streuber of Hanahan and Effingham, SC; four children, Robert David Streuber, II (Anna Grace) of Oklahoma City, OK, Amanda Hamm Spencer (Craig) of Hanahan, SC, Loring Clay Hamm, also of Hanahan, and Kyle Hamilton Ham (Laura) of North Charleston, SC; two sisters, Theresa DeLong (Bobbie) of Fountain Inn, SC, and Barbara Carter of Summerville; a brother, William “Bill”  Streuber (Mary) of Bonneau Beach, SC; three grandchildren, Logan Hamm, Kasey and Cannon Spencer; three brothers-in-law, John Buck (Bobbi) and Henry Buck (Debbie), both of Summerville, and Stuart Buck (Sandra) of Mt. Pleasant; and a number of nieces and nephews.
