FLORENCE – Rosie Janell Evans Thomas, 80, died Friday morning, May 2, 2025, after an illness.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Bethel Cemetery in Olanta, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service beginning at 10:30 am.
Rose was born in Coward, SC, a daughter of the late Clinton Alexander and Nettie Matthews Evans. She was the widow of Charles David Thomas, Sr.
Rose loved beautiful things and was a talented seamstress. She loved interior decorating and creating draperies. She formerly owned “The Window Box” and had a reputation for making draperies that most people thought impossible.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Florence.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Kathryn Pace; an infant daughter, Brenda Kay Thomas; and a sister, Diane Weatherford.
Survivors include her son, Charles David Thomas, Jr. (Michelle) of Florence; three granddaughters, Beth Lester (Nick) and Kelly Munn (Andrew), both of Effingham, and Jessica Pace (Ismael Cruz) of Greenville, SC; a grandson, Tyler Thomas; five great-granddaughters, Abigail, Allison, Autumn, Madison, and Evan; a sister, Alma Rainwater of Florence; a brother, George Evans of Greer, SC; and a number of extended family members.
