Shirley Jean Pelkey

                FLORENCE – Shirley Jean Moore Pelkey, 72, went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, March 21, 2026, after a brief illness.

                Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Florence Memorial Gardens Chapel with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m.  Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home.

                Shirley was born in Columbia, SC, a daughter of the late Frank L. Moore and Virginia Oakley Moore.  She was a daddy’s girl, always referring to him as “my diddy.”  Shirley spent many years in Augusta, GA, where she was employed at HQ.  After moving to Florence, she worked in security at the Florence Center and the Magnolia Mall.

                Shirley loved life and was a kid at heart.  She enjoyed singing blue grass gospel and performed in a band with her father called Frankie Moore and the Carolina Hymn Singers.  She loved spending time with her family, and playing with her nieces and nephews.

                In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Carolyn Herron, and a grandson, Kristopher Dillon.

                She is survived by her sons, Dendy Morris (Nickie) of Yulee, FL, and Darrell Morris (Dawn) of North Augusta, SC; a sister, Wanda Christmas (Bill) of Florence; a brother, Franky Moore (Barbara), also of Florence; her companion, John Welch, of Florence; two granddaughters, Skylar and Devin Morris, and a grandson, Silas Morris; and a number of extended family members.
