Starling Adams Seastrunk

FLORENCE Starling Adams Seastrunk, 77, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at McLeod Hospice House after an illness.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 28, 2015, at St. Luke Lutheran Church with entombment following in Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home.

She was born in Lake City, SC a daughter of the late Melvin D. and Alma P. Adams. She graduated from McClenaghan High School and attended Francis Marion College. She was a legal secretary for a time, and also worked in radio, serving as co-hostess of the WOLS Holiday talk show and as talent with WBTW television. She was sales director with Holiday Inns of Florence and served as State Supervisor of Welcome Wagon, Int. She was the campaign finance director for Ed Young for Congress.

Mrs. Seastrunk was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. She also was president of Lutheran Women and several circles.

She was a member of the Florence Jaycee-ettes, and was past president. She was also State Chairman of the Jaycee-ettes and was awarded Outstanding Chairman of the organization. She served on the Board of the Pee Dee Chapter of the March of Dimes, and served as Mothers March Chairman. She also was the talent coordinator for the March of Dimes Telerama on WBTW. She was named an Outstanding Young Woman in America in 1976. She was past president of the Club of Twenty Gardens.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Robert E. Seastrunk of the home; two sons, Robert E. Seastrunk, Jr., and Conrad (Jodie) Seastrunk, both of Florence; and five grandchildren, Jessica Sullivan, Eric Seastrunk, Jamie Seastrunk, Jenna Seastrunk, and Julia Seastrunk; and three very special nieces.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Danny Adams and Churchill Adams.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church, 1201 Cherokee Road, Florence, SC 29501.
