FLORENCE Susan Law Dusenbury, 87, passed away peacefully Friday evening, June 24, 2016, at McLeod Hospice House surrounded by her three children.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, June 27, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends immediately following at the church.
Mrs. Dusenbury was born February 13, 1929, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Glen Ramsey and Byrdella Boyd Law. She spent her first ten years in Sharpsville, PA, and moved to Washington, DC, at age 11. She graduated from public schools in Washington, DC, attended Wilson College, and graduated from George Washington University with a major in philosophy. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
While working in Washington, DC, she met Richard G. Dusenbury. They were married in 1952 and relocated to Florence where he pursued his law career. She was office manager of the law firm in Florence for many years. She was also a teacher and social worker.
Mrs. Dusenbury was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Florence. She was a deacon, Stephens minister, Bible Moderator for the Presbyterian Women, and member of the Womens Only class.
Mrs. Dusenbury was active in her community. She was a former board member of the Pee Dee Coalition against Domestic and Sexual Assault. She was also a member of the Florence Junior League, Authorian Dance Club, and Gay Gardeners Garden Club.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Richard G. Dusenbury, Sr.; a sister, Anne Law Weise; and a grandson, Daniel Dusenbury Snow.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Dusenbury (Tom Kazukynas) of Georgetown, SC, and Susan D. (Stuart) Snow of Florence; a son, Richard G. Dusenbury, Jr., also of Florence; three grandchildren, S. Wesley Snow, Jr., of Columbia, Auden Susan Laurence of New York, NY, and Galen Green Laurence of Georgetown; and a sister, Linda Law Glew of Chevy Chase, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 700 Park Ave., Florence, SC 29501; or to Pee Dee Coalition, P. O. Box 1351, Florence, SC 29503.
