Sylvia Deems Schatz

FLORENCE Sylvia Deems Schatz, 83, died Monday, May 18, 2015, after a brief illness.

She was born in Buffalo, New York, a daughter of the late Arthur James and Vida Watts Edwards. Formerly of Fairfield, Connecticut, she had resided in Florence for the past 35 years and was a homemaker. Ms. Schatz was predeceased by a sister, Jean Ferguson.

Survivors include two sons, Timothy L. (Susan) Schatz of Florence, SC, and Christopher J. (Amy) Schatz of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Lucy Forth, of Depew, NY; six grandchildren, Jonathan D. Schatz (Laura Heyenga), Katherine A. Schatz, Evan J. Schatz, Nicole P. (Jason) Collins, Aimee P. Reynolds, and Matthew D. Palumbo; and three great-grandchildren.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
