Thomas McCoy Moore, Jr.

FLORENCE Thomas McCoy Moore, Jr., 92, won his right to everlasting life in heaven through the blood of Jesus Christ, on Veterans Day, November 11, 2013.

Mr. Moore was born in LaGrange, GA, a son of the late Thomas M. Moore, Sr., and Zeddie Lois Jones Moore. He was predeceased by two sisters, Le Merle Kay and Margret Jones Moore.

Tom Moore lived a life of service and devotion. As a deacon and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church of Florence for many years, he served God. As a petty officer in the US Navy during World War II, he served his country. As a husband for 63 years, he faithfully served his wife, Myrtis W. Moore. As a father of two sons, he served his family with devotion. As president of the Noon Optimist Club in Florence, he served his community. As the first president of the Botany Acres Homeowners Association, he served his neighbors. As an insurance adjuster for 45 years, he served the Pee Dee Area.

Mr. Moore enjoyed golf and was a member of the Tri-county Golf Association. He also enjoyed wood-working.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Myrtis, of the home, include his two sons, Thomas M. Tommy Moore, III, of Suwanee, GA, and Wade Moore of Florence; a grandson, Matthew Thomas (Christina) Moore of Atlanta, GA; a brother, W. R. Bobby Moore of Cummings, GA; nieces, Lynda Kay of Buford, GA, and Leigh (Howard) Orr of Cummings, GA; and a nephew, T. Art (Fran) Moore, also of Cummings, GA; and other family members.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2013, in Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Florence National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
