FLORENCE – Thomas Robert “Bob” Sharpe, 81, died Thursday, October 10, 2024, at his home.
Bob was born October 8, 1943 in Columbia, SC, to Mary Evans and A.Z. Sharpe. He was predeceased by his parents, an infant daughter, Susanne Hope Sharpe, and a brother, Larry Sharpe.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Deborah H. Sharpe, of the home; two daughters, Stephanie Sharpe Green (Cliff) of Waxhaw, NC, and Julie Sharpe Knight of Florence; two sisters, Angie Jones (Mike) of Florence and Sharon Furniss (David) of Taylors, SC; four grandchildren, Alexander Knight of Charleston, SC, Mary Hodges Knight of Florence, Harrison Green of Nashville, TN, and Hannah Green of Waxhaw, NC; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was greatly loved by them all.
Though he was born in Columbia, he was raised in Florence and graduated from McClenaghan High School. Mr. Sharpe enlisted into the United States Army where he served the majority of his time in Germany.
He owned Sharpe and Associates Insurance Company and was an independent insurance and annuity agent for 55 years.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman and loving family man. Throughout his life Bob was active in civic and community affairs, where he served on the board of the Life Underwriters’ Association, Central United Methodist Church, Central United Methodist Church Chancel Choir, Masterworks Choir, and Masonic Flintville Lodge #158.
A memorial service will be held at Central United Methodist Church at 2p.m., Thursday, October 17, 2024. The family will receive friends at the residence.
