Verna Edwards Mercuri

FLORENCE - Verna Edwards Mercuri, 91, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in her residence after an illness.

Funeral services 12:00 PM, Friday, April 25, 2014 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with interment following in Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. A wake service will be held 5:30 PM, Thursday, April 24, 2014 in the Chapel of Waters-Powell Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6-8 following the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mercuri, wife of the late Paul Salvadore Mercuri, Sr., was born in Pamplico, SC a daughter of the late Leslie and Georgia Summerford Edwards. She was and a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Surviving are three sons, Craig (Emily) Mercuri, Stephen (Gail) Mercuri, and Paul (Chic) Mercuri; a daughter, Diana Mayes; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two brothers, Wayne (Shelby) Edwards of Charleston, SC, Lee Edwards of Coward; and three sisters, Mary Clyde Lyerly of Florence, Georgia Lee Watson of Britton’s Neck, and Muriel Tanner of Johnsonville.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Mercuri was predeceased by three brothers, Billy Edwards, C.M. Edwards, and Derieux Edwards; and a sister, Vera Holt.
