Virginia Rhodes Crocker

FLORENCE Virginia Rhodes Crocker died Saturday, June 21, 2014, in the home where she had lived for over 50 years.

Funeral services, directed by Waters-Powers Funeral Home, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2014, in the Chapel at Mount Hope Cemetery Mausoleum .

Ms. Crocker was the daughter of the late John and Mary Nell Brasselle Rhodes. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Herman Lewis Crocker.

After raising her family, Mrs. Crocker earned her nursing degree and was an operating room nurse at McLeod Hospital until she retired at 75 years of age.

Survivors include her daughters, Vicki C. Flerx of Gilbert, SC, and Diane C. Bryant of Augusta, GA; a brother, Jerry Rhodes, of Columbia; three grandchildren, David Lester Flerx, Wendy Marie Flerx (Christopher W. Sample), and Daniel Malcolm Bryant; and three great-grandchildren, Miranda Hope Flerx, Christopher Brooks Sample, and Skyler Finn Sample.

The family would like to extend special thanks to her caregivers, Inez Jacobs and Vicky Shaw, for their wonderful care and love of Mrs. Crocker for 4 years.
