FLORENCE Vivian Camlin Meggs, 74, wife of Thomas Meggs, passed on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at McLeod Hospice House after an extended illness.
Mrs. Meggs was born September 13, 1939 in Florence, SC, a daughter of the late Cecil M. Camlin and Viola Miller Camlin. She was a 1957 graduate of McClenaghan High School and attended Winthrop University.
Vivian was the secretary of Carver Elementary School and had a catering service; she loved to cook, as well as cross stitch.
In addition to her parents, Vivian was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Camlin, Jr., and a sister, Sybil Camlin Schubert.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 55 years, are three sons, Marty (Rita) of Little River, SC, Mike (Cecilia) of Effingham, and Jerry of Denmark, SC; a brother, Harold Camlin of Florence; and two sisters, Marilyn Shokes of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Julia Sellers of Hendersonville, NC. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Matthew (Michelle) Meggs of Fort Bragg, NC, Daniel Meggs of Columbia, SC, Andrew Meggs of Alexandria, VA, and Mary Margaret Meggs of Effingham. She was expecting her first great-grandchild in November of this year.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Highland Park United Methodist Church, officiated by Reverends Michael Henderson and Rick Schubert. Entombment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
