FLORENCE Wayne Hartwell Jordan, 65, died Thursday, September 17, 2015, at the McLeod Hospice House after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 20, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church with burial following in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home.
Wayne was born in the Indian Branch community of Darlington County, a son of the late William Foster and Addie Elease Odom Jordan. He graduated from St. Johns High School and attended Florence-Darlington Technical College. He was a dedicated employee of Sonoco for 46 years before retiring in February.
Wayne was a member of Indian Branch Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Florence Shag Club and the Sonoco Old Timers Club. Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and was an avid golfer at Traces Golf Club.
Surviving him are his wife, Jeanette Poulas Jordan, of the home; a daughter, Elizabeth J. (Robbie) Odom of Darlington; a son, William Dewitt (Bryan) Jordan-Leonard of Winston-Salem, NC; two sisters, Geraldine (James) Moody and Doris (Robert) Goodson, both of Darlington; two brothers, Basil (Peggy) Jordan of Darlington and Larry (Marie) Jordan of Florence; three step-children, Jay (Debra) Norwood and Meg (Rob) Elvington, both of Florence, and Elizabeth (Curt) Nesbitt of Charleston; two grandchildren, Cody (Lauren) Langley and Katherine Langley; eleven step-grandchildren, Justin and Kaitlyn Odom; Justin (Jessica) Norwood, Trae, Wood, Sam and Jack Elvington; and John Garland, Sullivan, Lawson, and Graham Hartwell Nesbitt; and four great-grandchildren, Hunter Evans, Harper Langley, Madelyn Norwood, and Payton Urga; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by a son, Stephen Wayne Jordan; a daughter, Margaret Ann Jordan; a brother, Willard Jordan; and a sister, LaRae Britt.
