William Carter "Billy" Ayres

FLORENCE William Carter Billy Ayres, 73, died Sunday, February 8, 2015, at home after an illness.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2015, in Central United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. Friends are welcome anytime at their residence.

Mr. Ayres was born in Florence, a son of the late William McMillan and Elizabeth Carter Ayres. He graduated from McClenaghan High School and attended Clemson University. He was retired from the City of Florence Finance Department.

Mr. Ayres was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He was also a member and past president of the South Carolina Jaycees.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann W. Ayres, of the home; a daughter, Beth Ayres, of Columbia; a sister, Kay Ayres (Perrin) Powell of Spartanburg; a devoted caregiver, Eunice Eaddy, of Florence; and nieces and nephews.
