William L. Kimbrell

FLORENCE William Leonard Bill Kimbrell, 71, died Saturday, June 20, 2015, at McLeod Hospice House after an illness.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, June 22, 2015, at Evergreen Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.

Bill was born in Spartanburg, SC, a son of Mary Taylor Kimbrell and the late William Kimbrell. His love of aviation began at an early age, and he was a pilot for over 50 years, most recently with Tailwind East. Bill was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Formerly of Wilmington, NC, he had resided in Evergreen for the past four years. He attended Evergreen Baptist Church in Effingham. Bill was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his mother of Hendersonville, NC, he is survived by his wife, Linda Weaver Kimbrell of Evergreen; a daughter, Nancy J. Kimbrell of Oklahoma City, OK; a son, William Joseph Kimbrell of Wilmington, NC; and two sisters, Penny (Bernie) Stumborg of Wilmington, NC, and Karen (Jack) Nash of Hendersonville, NC. He was predeceased by his father and brother, John P. Kimbrell.
