FLORENCE – Donald Harris Hood, 73, died June 10, 2023, after an illness.

Don was born in Florence, South Carolina, a son of the late James Calvin Hood and Betty Turner Keels. Following a career in Major League Baseball, he worked as a Park Ranger in Lee County, Florida. He will be missed by his loving family and friends.

Per Don’s request, there will be no services. Instead, those who wish to remember him are encouraged to donate to our local children’s baseball league. Please make memorials to Florence Little League Baseball, c/o Florence Parks and Recreation Department, 513 Barnes St., Florence, SC 29501, and indicate “In Memory of Don Hood” on the check.
